Michelle is the Principal of Akashic Communications and has been collaborating with the OCG team since 2011. She is a CSR, sustainability and corporate communications specialist with a Masters degree in Professional Communications. Her clientele over the past 17 years have been almost exclusively in the resource sector, where the majority of her expertise has been developing and implementing communications, CSR, stakeholder engagement and sustainability strategies for Canadian exploration and mining companies operating in developing countries. Her familiarity and understanding of the sector from an industry perspective provides a unique balance to her project input and analysis.
Since becoming GRI (and G4) Certified, Michelle has also been a CSR and sustainability consultant and writer to junior and mid-tier mining companies. She provides CSR and sustainability communications strategy and execution advice to OCG clients, assists with project research, due diligence and report compilation. Key accomplishments with OCG include co-authoring the Mining Association of Canada-commissioned Recommendations of the National Roundtables on Corporate Social Responsibility and the Canadian Extractive Industry in Developing Countries and the design of an inaugural materiality assessment, key (and custom) performance indicator development and sustainability reporting strategy for a world-class mine in Bolivia.
Michelle completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Canada; she has a BA from Simon Fraser University and received her MA from Royal Roads University.
